Everton and Juventus eye swap deal for Andre Gomes and Adrien Rabiot
Everton have been linked to a move for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot in a deal which would see Andre Gomes head to Turin, according to JuveDipendenza.
The Italian news outlet, who have over 60,000 Facebook followers, has suggested that the 27-year-old France international has “officially requested” to leave the Italian side and wants a Premier League move.
It has been reported that Goodison Park is a possible destination due to the potential of a swap deal with Andre Gomes.
28-year-old Gomes featured 14 times in the Premier League for Everton in the 2021/22 campaign.
Bringing in a player of Rabiot’s experience will certainly benefit Frank Lampard’s side, but ultimately the former PSG man will be on enormous wages that the Toffees are trying to avoid at present
However, shifting Gomes off of their books is something that has to be done in the coming weeks.
Gomes is clearly a talented player, but ultimately the 28-year-old hasn’t performed regularly enough to be considered a success at Goodison Park.
He is likely to be on relatively big wages which could be utilised elsewhere in Lampard’s budget.
Rabiot is a more experienced option than Gomes considering his considerable time spent at Europe’s biggest clubs, but Lampard shouldn’t go all out for the midfielder.
It is crucial the Toffees continue to target younger talent that can be developed and then sold on during their time at Goodison Park.
Rabiot just feels like a signing that is too similar to what Everton have gone for in the past.
