Everton target Billy Gilmour set for showdown talks with Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel

Everton target and Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour is reportedly set to have showdown talks with Thomas Tuchel over his future.

According to the Telegraph, the Scotland international is keen on getting a clarification from his manager after he was dropped down to the under-23s from the pre-season squad.

Frank Lampard is said to be an admirer of the 21-year-old and while he is said to be considering a loan move, the Evening Standard now report that a bid could be made as Gilmour may leave the club on a permanent basis.

This Everton midfield has lacked fluidity and the runners willing to surge from deep and draw defenders out of position.

Gilmour, who did exactly this during his time at Rangers would be a terrific addition to Lampard’s side who played a similar role during his career.

He liked to receive the ball near the halfway line and either play short passes with the players around him or ping a long ball to the wings and then make a run towards the penalty area.

While the Scotland international is not quite that industrious yet, he could get better under Lampard’s stewardship who is understood to be keen on signing a few midfielders this summer.

Gilmour would offer his side much-needed creativity in and around the 18-yard area and it would be exciting to see how he fares with the likes of Anthony Gordon and Dominic Calvert-Lewin expecting him to create chances on a plate.

Along with the Scotsman, we’re also confident that the club can strike a deal with Wolves to sign Morgan Gibbs-White and give Lampard two much-needed midfield signings.
