Everton frustrated over negotiations for Burnley ace Maxwel Cornet with Nottingham Forest keen on hijack
Everton have reportedly gotten frustrated over the negotiations with Burnley for winger Maxwel Cornet.
According to BBC journalist Fraser Fletcher, Nottingham Forest are now looking to hijack the deal and capitalise on this situation.
The Daily Mail, in their print edition [23 July, pg. 111] shared that he has a £17.5million release clause and the Toffees and Fulham have been proposing loans to avoid paying it all at one go.
Fletcher wrote on Twitter, “Nottingham Forest are pressing to hijack the Everton deal for Maxwell Cornet. I’m told there’s frustration in negotiations and Forest are looking to exploit that. Not over yet but open race for player.”
Shameful
It’s embarrassing that the Toffees are unable to meet two newly-promoted sides to secure the services of a player in the Championship.
This should’ve been a formality and completed a while ago but as all transfer sagas involving Everton, is unnecessarily dragging on.
We’re disappointed with the lack of urgency shown by the decision makers at Goodison Park and Frank Lampard will, unfortunately, pay the price for something that’s not even his fault.
Leeds United, Forest and many other clubs expected to finish in the bottom half are already looking to be in better shape and the window will close in a few weeks.
They’ve already lost a major £12.8million transfer battle to a Premier League rival and are likely to see Armando Broja join West Ham as well and this is not a very good look after losing one of their best players in Richarlison.
