Alan Myers: Concern exists over Everton transfer strategy after Dwight McNeil signing from Burnley
Everton are reportedly concerned with their transfer strategy after previous signings from the Championship have not fared too well.
That’s according to Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers who claims that Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard are looking for young players that actually want to represent the club after Dwight McNeil joined from Burnley.
This is completely contrary to the kinds of signings they made under Marcel Brands and previous managers.

Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk, Myers said, “There is a little bit of concern as they have signed players from the Championship before and it hasn’t worked out.
“Let’s take into account what Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard are looking out for this summer. They’re looking for young players who are and I’m listening to McNeil in his interview and he mentioned the word ‘Hungry’ on a couple of occasions.
“They’re looking for players who are young and hungry.”
Sounds good in theory
Certainly, every manager will want young and hungry players over old and ones that do not really care.
We’re not disappointed with the McNeil signing in the slightest and actually think that he’ll make the Everton squad stronger.
However, what the club needs is to sign quality players for a good price and that involves thorough scouting and not leaving things until late.
With the new season now only days away, they’ve just managed to permanently sign two first-team players and bring Ruben Vinagre on loan.
They look no closer to signing a new striker or midfielder – two positions that desperately needed reinforcements towards the back end of last season.
Thelwell has been here for a while and he cannot afford to have excuses for not doing enough and we’re hoping that Armando Broja handing in a transfer request at Chelsea would help get that deal over the line.
