Serie A side Salernitana reportedly denies making any contact with Everton for their midfielder Allan this summer.
According to Italian media outlet Corriere Dello Sport (August 3, page 19), they may revisit the transfer in the final hours of the window as the 31-year-old is on their radar.
Since his move to Goodison Park from Napoli, the Brazil international has remained constantly linked with a return back to Italy.
At 31, it’s unlikely that the Brazilian’s resale value gets higher next summer and this window may be the perfect time to cash in on him.
However, that would be sound if the club’s financial condition was stable and that’s far from the reality – making it impossible to lose another midfielder this summer.
The fact that they’re having to sign Idrissa Gueye from PSG suggests that they’re in dire straits and cannot make moves for players on the rise or in their prime.
Losing Allan would again need them to enter the transfer market to find a replacement and that’s not something they can afford just days to go for the season to begin.
Hopefully, the Andre Gomes sale generates decent funds as they desperately need the money to bring in reinforcements.
Alan Myers recently claimed that Everton are demanding up to £20million for his services and that would be phenomenal if they get that over the line.
