Everton are now eyeing the bargain transfer of midfielder Xeka this summer, according to L’Equipe.

The French outlet has reported on its website that the Portuguese maestro has plenty of options to choose from as he gets set to make his next move.

It is suggested that Rennes, Porto and Wolfsburg are all in the race for the 27-year-old with a deal not described as straightforward in the coming days and weeks.

An offer has already been waved away from Saudi Arabia, with Al Ettifaq seeing their best efforts turned down with a move to stay in Europe clearly fancied.

Everton and their financial troubles are well documented, with other big-money transfers set to go through.

A deal worth over £35million has been agreed with Lille to sign Amadou Onana, so looking for cheaper deals after that to strengthen the squad would make perfect sense.

Farhad Moshiri is spending the money, but with Kevin Thelwell alongside him, other smart deals are being explored for the good of the club and their finances.

Another One.

Moshiri has really kickstarted a big-money blitz at Goodison Park, with Dwight McNeil likely being followed by Onana in the coming days.

That is excellent news and the squad is rightly being strengthened after the sale of Richarlison, but smart, cheap additions can be just as important.

Xeka was part of the squad that won the Ligue 1 title with Lille two years ago ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, so he knows what it takes to succeed.

Lampard will want more winners in his squad, and that is exactly what he would be getting for nothing with this one, but the race is well and truly on.

Can Premier League football lure another one into our grasps ahead of the likes of Porto and Wolfsburg? Let’s cross out fingers that this one can be done.
