Everton have finally finished a deal to also sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye, according to Fraser Fletcher.
The former BBC Scotland journalist has reported that the final details are currently going on with the paperwork before he seals his reunion with the Toffees.
Lille midfielder Amadou Onana is also set to confirm his move to Goodison Park this weekend with his medical on Saturday, with Gueye then following through the door.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Fletcher shared that the final details are needed before making this official this weekend as well.
“Done Deal,” he wrote.
“Idrissa Gana Gueye deal finalised between clubs and final details going on paperwork. He will join Amadou Onana in securing move to Everton this weekend.
“Everton moving on multiple deals and mood is buoyant about incomings.”
This is exactly the kind of deal we need right now.
Fans have been quietly excited about the three pieces of business we have done so far, but what is also clear is that we need many more new arrivals.
Onana, followed by Gueye will strengthen the midfield massively, but even then, we can’t be done.
Dwight McNeil has arrived as a new winger and a potential Richarlison replacement, but we need a central striker desperately, especially after recent developments.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is now out for weeks with yet another injury, leaving us with the currently suspended Salomon Rondon and Dele Alli in a potential false nine role.
That isn’t good enough, and while this double midfield deal needs to be praised and right so, Farhad Moshiri is going to have to keep that chequebook out if he can.
This weekend is all about Chelsea and this double deal, let’s celebrate those first – hopefully with a big win.
