Everton expect to finalise deal for Conor Coady before Aston Villa clash

Everton are close to completing triple deals in the next few days, and Conor Coady is one of them, as per Sky Sports.

In the transfer live blog (8 August, 11:52am), Sky Sports reported that a deal is “expected to be finalised” in order for him to play against Aston Villa.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender is expected to undergo his medical in the next 24-48 hours. The Toffees are in “advanced negotiation” to sign him on loan, with an option to buy on a permanent deal.

Everton will face Aston Villa next Saturday (13 August) at Villa Park. The club hope that Coady will be registered by that time. The Toffees are also looking to complete deals for Amadou Onana and Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Terrific addition

Coady will be a superb addition for the Toffees.

After Ben Godfrey got injured on the opening game, it became absolutely necessary for Frank Lampard to sign another experienced centre-back.

Coady has been at Wolves for seven seasons and has made over 315 appearances for them. A solid defender who still has got some best 3-4 years left in him.

He is likely to partner James Tarkowski at the back, and Everton can now boast of a solid defensive set-up with Michael Keane and Mason Holgate, and Yerry Mina.

Unfortunately, Mina picked up yet another injury in the 1-0 defeat against Chelsea, and Lampard must decide whether to keep him at the club beyond the summer.

Keane played a lot of games last season, but he lacks consistency. If Coady arrives, he is likely to drop down the pecking order.

Coady will bring calmness and solidity at the back, and Everton defence will get stronger once Godfrey returns from injury.
