Nottingham Forest are reportedly preparing a club-record bid to sign Everton target and Wolves attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

According to the Mirror (August 10, page 54), the newly-promoted Premier League side will be willing to part ways with £30million to sign the 22-year-old.

This makes Forest the favourites to sign the Englishman ahead of the Merseyside outfit.

Time to move on?

There's no way that Everton can afford to match what Forest are paying for Gibbs-White which makes this pursuit pointless.

They are already in a financial crisis and need to sell players in order to spend money on new acquisitions.

Spending big money on Amadou Onana certainly guarantees that they will not be going that heavy on another midfielder this summer.

They're also looking to finalise a move for Idrissa Gueye which will see them having brought in two midfielders this summer.

They certainly will not be wanting to spend so much on another one especially when they have not yet replaced Richarlison.

Andres Gomes appears to be on the fringes and the club are expecting to generate a colossal £20million from his sale this summer.

That money should then go into the kitty they use to sign a new striker.
