Everton wait for Goodison Park exit before making offer to Adnan Januzaj

Everton must wait for players to depart Goodison Park before making an offer to former Real Sociedad attacker Adnan Januzaj according to AS.

The Spanish news outlet revealed on Tuesday 16 August that the Toffees and West Ham are the two Premier League clubs interested in the 27-year-old free agent.

It’s also understood that the former Manchester United man also has offers from the MLS.

Everton attacker Anthony Gordon has been subject to a £45million bid from Chelsea as reported by The Times (16 August), and the Toffees could move for Januzaj should the 21-year-old make the move to Stamford Bridge.

Keep Gordon

It is good to see the Toffees potentially plan for Gordon’s exit, but they should be doing all they can to keep the England under-21 international at Goodison Park for the long term.

The club hierarchy have to convince Gordon that remaining on Merseyside is the right thing for his career, and that could involve more investment into Frank Lampard’s squad.

Gordon needs to know that the Toffees will be competitive in the 2022/23 season, otherwise, a move to Chelsea will certainly be of interest to him.

Januzaj is a player that has certainly split opinions after bursting onto the scene at Old Trafford as a youngster.

At 27, he is in the prime of his career but endured a difficult season in the 2021/22 campaign only scoring five goals in 44 games for the LaLiga side.

Furthermore, he is likely to demand a substantial wage should he make the move to Merseyside.

Everton should be focusing all their attention on keeping Gordon at the club and not on Januzaj.
