Cenk Tosun plays key role as Besiktas hope to sign Everton ace Dele Alli this week

Former Everton striker has reportedly played a key role in luring Dele Alli to Besiktas with a transfer now set to be finalised.

According to Turkish media outlet Milliyet, Tosun gave a positive reference to the hierarchy and that was significant in their pursuit of the England international.

They expect to finalise his signing by the end of the week and have him in the stands for their game against Karagumruk on Sunday (July 21).

Everton

Good riddance

The Alli saga was such a pointless one and surely the club will be happy to see the back of him.

He signed on a free so there won’t be any hard feelings over the move but it was baffling to see Spurs agree to such a weird deal to let him go.

They will be compensated to a share of the fee Everton make from his sale but it’s clear that the Merseyside outfit are the real winners in this deal.

He was unnecessary hogging up wages at the club so letting him go does make a lot of sense but it’s time that the club focuses on incomings now.

A new striker still remains on the agenda and they seem no closer to getting one over the line ahead of the third gameweek of the season.

This cannot continue especially when Dominic Calvert-Lewin is out missing and Salomon Rondon isn’t fancied by Frank Lampard.

Monaco striker Serhou Guirassy appears to be forcing his way out of the club to move to Goodison Park but the decision makers are not showing any signs of urgency to get that over the line.
