Brighton unwilling to sell Leandro Trossard amid Everton and Manchester United interest
Brighton are reportedly unwilling to sell Leandro Trossard this summer despite the interest from Everton and Manchester United.
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, Graham Potter is denying a sale of the Belgium international as he’s got one more year left on his current deal.
Apart from the two aforementioned teams, it’s also understood that big-spenders Newcastle are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old.
Via Twitter, Jacobs wrote, “Brighton are not open to a Leandro Trossard sale with Graham Potter denying he’s into the final year of his contract. Manchester United, Newcastle and Everton all linked.
Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair told HBvL, “Leandro will not leave just to leave. If he were to consider a switch, it must be a really attractive project with guarantees on playing minutes. There is a World Cup coming up, so it is crucial for Leandro to keep rhythm.”
Move on
Trossard has proven himself to be a dependable player in the Premier League who may not always be among the goals but is a hard-working player.
Attackers have often struggled to adapt to the Premier League, especially if they’ve been signed from one of Europe’s lesser leagues, but the 27-year-old has done well.
He’s also got plenty of caps under his belt for Belgium and should be on the plane for the World Cup later this year.
However, if Potter is unwilling to let go of the player and his agent speaks out about his intention to stay, there’s a good chance he doesn’t leave this summer.
Any major decision is likely to be made in January so the Toffees are better off looking at alternatives.
Signing a striker should be their priority and it seems like they are making progress on that front, identifying Brentford attacker Ivan Toney as a possible option this summer.
