Everton and PSG very close to agreement for Idrissa Gueye transfer

Everton are reportedly on the cusp of signing PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye with the confidence of completing the deal among all parties.

According to Goal France journalist Marc Mechenoua, there are a few details to iron out before Gueye will sign a two-year contract and the option of extending by another season at Goodison Park.

The long-drawn saga now finally looks to be coming to an end with all parties wanting the move to go ahead as soon as possible.

Via Twitter, Mechenoua wrote, “There are only a few details left to settle for the transfer of Idrissa Gueye to Everton. Close agreement between the two clubs and optimism on the side of the player who should commit to two years plus another option.”

Finally

This deal seems to have taken far too long and nobody expected this saga to draw on in the manner that it has over the past few weeks.

Gueye is not wanted in Paris and many expected him to be open to returning to Goodison Park – a place where he played some of the best football in his career.

However, things were not as straightforward as they seemed and the transfer looked to be on the verge of falling through on several occasions.

Everything now seems to be back on track and we can expect an announcement for the Senegal international sooner rather than later.

With Amadou Onana already signed, the Toffees are unlikely to secure the services of another midfielder should they also sign Gueye.

Another striker does seem likely as an Everton scout was in attendance on Saturday to track Blackburn Rovers ace Ben Brereton Diaz.
