Kaveh Solhekol: Frank Lampard could sign another new forward at Everton in next 48 hours
Frank Lampard could add another new forward to the Everton squad within the next 48 hours, according to Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol.
Everton have already bolstered their attack this summer by signing Dwight McNeil and Neal Maupay, who joined from Brighton for £15million last week (26 August).
And, as per Solhekol, the Toffees could yet add another new face to their attack by Thursday evening (1 September).
“Everton are still working on signing Idrissa Gueye from PSG. Frank Lampard could also sign another forward in then ext 48 hours,” said Solhekol on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Tuesday (05:37pm).
Race against time
Everton kick off against Leeds in the Premier League on Tuesday night (30 August).
It means they have a bit of an advantage over some of their rivals in the top-flight as there are then two clear days for them to complete more signings on Wednesday and Thursday.
At 11pm on Thursday night, the transfer window will close and clubs will have to wait until January to add new signings their squads.
Everton haven’t been that busy this summer but there’s been a lot of promise about who could arrive.
Our strike force is very weak, in all honesty.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is getting less reliable with each passing season, Salomon Rondon is useless and Maupay has only just arrived from Brighton.
Away from the strikers, we’re also pretty weak in the attacking midfield positions and it will only get worse if Anthony Gordon secures a last-minute move away to Chelsea.
Lampard and Kevin Thelwell need to be on their toes because they could end up having to spend a lot of money to sign several new players.
Let’s hope it’s better than the last-ditch January business which saw Donny van de Beek and Dele Alli arrive at Goodison only to do the square root of nothing.
