Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus is reportedly set to price himself out of an Everton move after scoring against Liverpool in the Champions League.
According to the Daily Express, the Toffees retain an interest in signing him, but they may not be able to after his performances against the Reds on Tuesday as well as Rangers the week before.
The 22-year-old looked to force his move to Goodison Park ahead of transfer deadline day but did not get his way and ended up staying at Ajax.
Tough to get
Everton may have lost their chance to sign the Ghana international as he’s now likely to be too expensive for them and his wage demands may also put him out of their reach.
The fact that he’s shone against Liverpool and Rangers in the Champions League has certainly put him on the radar of the continent’s big clubs.
African journalist Yaw Ampofo Jr also took to Twitter to rave about his strike against the Scottish side and top scouts may have also taken note of that goal and his overall performance.
“Mohammed Kudus scores a magnificent goal for Ajax,” he wrote.
However, with the player now looking to price himself out of a move to Everton, it makes sense for the Toffees to pursue alternatives.
They will certainly be looking for attackers in January, having failed to sign Ben Brereton Diaz over the summer, and could rekindle their interest in the Chilean instead of trying for Kudus again.
