Alex Iwobi shares reaction as Everton suffer 2-1 loss v Manchester United

Alex Iwobi took to Instagram to share his reaction after Everton suffered a 2-1 defeat against Manchester United at Goodison Park on Sunday (9 October) in the Premier League.

The Toffees took an early lead through Iwobi who scored a belter from a long range. But goals from Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo pulled the game in United’s favour.

The 26-year-old midfielder wrote on Instagram – “Learn and go again”. Asmir Begovic responded to his post, by saying – “what a player”.

Rejuvenation

The transformation of Iwobi is one of Frank Lampard’s biggest success stories so far.

After joining from Arsenal, Iwobi struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park, and many fans felt that he should be sold.

He wasn’t effective playing on the wings. Lampard used his versatility by deploying him in the full-back roles, where he started to perform better.

Iwobi grew in confidence gradually and his performance started to improve.

Lampard then used him in midfield where he has been absolutely outstanding. His energy and drive add another dimension, and he should now be looking to add more goals to his name.

The Toffees managed 11 shots during the game, although it’s the visitors who had a lot more possession. James Garner came close to scoring towards the end, but his effort was saved by David de Gea.

Despite the defeat, Lampard should be happy with the effort from his players. If they can play with the same intensity going forward, the Toffees can expect to finish in the top half of the table this season.
