Reliable journalist shares update on Everton chances of signing Chelsea striker Armando Broja

Everton may have reportedly lost their chance to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja after failing to get that deal over the line in the summer.

According to Daily Mirror journalist Paul Brown, the Albanian would’ve been a good striker at Goodison Park, but now is unlikely to make the move.

The 21-year-old sees himself having a future at Stamford Bridge and it would take a lot to get him out of there for Everton.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown said: “The problem there is that Broja has been playing for Chelsea. He wants to have a future there.

“It would be a surprise if Chelsea suddenly let him go in January, so I think that ship has possibly sailed, which is sad because I think it would have been a great signing, especially on loan. If they could have signed him on loan, I think that would have been brilliant for Everton in the summer.”

Not needed

Broja was eyed over the summer when the Toffees were looking for an out-and-out striker and they did pursue his services a great deal.

He undoubtedly would’ve been good and possibly kept Dominic Calvert-Lewin out of the starting eleven as well as he’s got a better fitness record and is willing to run the hard yards.

His performances for Southampton impressed fans and pundits alike.

Speaking to the BBC in February 2022, when Broja was at St Mary’s, Martin Keown said, “I do feel he’s the real deal. He is gonna be an outstanding talent, I can tell you that.”

However, the club then turned to Brighton and ended up signing Neal Maupay so another striker in January would make little sense.

Lampard anyway does not play a two-striker system so it’s going to be one or the other and signing another forward will make things more complicated.

Everton must look for goal-scoring wide forwards as well as another attacking midfielder if they are to sign anyone in January.

Also, if Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are shipped off in the next few months, a new centre-back would be a priority as their depth in that area is clearly not good enough.
