Everton ace Jordan Pickford may angle for new deal amid Chelsea transfer interest
Representatives of Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford may angle for a new contract amid interest shown from Chelsea.
According to Mirror journalist Paul Brown, believes that his agents are looking for a good deal for their client and will use this interest from a Champions League giant in the bargaining process.
The Toffees keeper has been a mainstay in goal and has been an undisputed number one for club and country for the past few years.
Brown told Give Me Sport, “I suspect some of the interest now is because it may be that his representatives think it’s time for a new contract. And this is a way to help that bargaining process.”
If anyone deserves a new contract at Everton, it’s Pickford as he’s been the unsung hero in goal for several years.
He’s also been a terrific leader and a good organiser of defences and despite his errors, has always bounced back to put in solid displays.
The interest from Chelsea does seem a tad weird as manager Graham Potter still does not seem to be quite sure who his best option in goal is.
Edouard Mendy started the season as the first choice, but his form has been erratic and an injury saw Kepa Arrizabalaga come in to make that position his own.
The last thing they would want is for another goalkeeper to add to the dilemma so unless both of them leave, the Blues probably will not sign a new one.
Pickford certainly would want assurances of first-team football so a move to Spurs seems more likely than one to their London rivals.
