Everton to fight Liverpool to sign Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
Everton will fight Liverpool to the death for the chance to capture Ajax sensation Mohammed Kudus’s coveted signature, according to De Telegraaf‘s Mike Verweij.
The Toffees have long been linked with a move for the Ghana international but will now face competition from Merseyside rivals Liverpool.
The topic of Kudus was discussed during De Telegraaf’s podcast, Kick-Off where Verweij claimed that the Blues will “bid against” Liverpool for the attacking midfielder.
“Everton was of course already concrete before and Kudus was very angry that it didn’t happen then,” says Verweij.
“Ajax did not want to talk to Everton at the time, while you must have thought of a transfer fee of thirty/forty million. Now Liverpool is also concrete, according to English media.
“If two clubs from a country start bidding against each other, that’s already good, but two clubs from one city is of course quite nice.”

The ship has sailed.
You have to be realistic here as a Toffee, the Blues’ chances of signing a red-hot talent like Kudus are very slim as things stand.
The Ghanaian is putting out FIFA World Cup masterclasses as we speak and this will only add pound signs to his already lucrative transfer fee.
On top of that, every “big” club in Europe will now be vying for his signature and the Toffees simply can’t compete with these juggernauts at the moment.
Questions need to be asked as to why he wasn’t signed and sealed this summer, it’s painstakingly frustrating to think that the midfielder was inches away from a Goodison Park move.
If that transfer had gone through, who knows what kind of impact the 22-year-old would have had on Everton’s lacklustre season so far.
It would be some coup if Everton could actually pull this one off and hats off to the hierarchy if they manage it, but that story just seems too good to be true.
