Everton in transfer boost with Senegal striker Boulaye Dia open to move
Everton-linked Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia is reportedly ready to take the step up in his career, according to the people close to him.
Per Give Me Sport journalist Dean Jones, a move to the Premier League in January appears to be on the cards.
Tutto Salernitana on 12 October claimed that Everton had an offer on the table for the World Cup striker for Senegal between £13million and £14million.
Jones said, “He’s exciting and he was always going to be one of the players expected to be a breakout from the World Cup.
“He’s very confident, he’s got a lot of belief in himself, the people around him believe that he is ready for the next step in his career and that the Premier League is possible, so it would make sense to me that Leeds and Everton should be seriously looking at him right now.“
Tutto Salernitana also reported that he has a £10.3 million clause that will allow the Seria A club to buy him outright, which they’re likely to exercise before selling him.
Dia has primarily played as a central striker as that’s where the majority of his goals have come from.
However, he is also capable of playing on the right wing and as an inside forward, giving the team anal additional goal threat.
Everton may not need him as a centre forward but his versatility could be one of the major reasons for their pursuit.
Had they not signed Neal Maupay in the summer, he could’ve competed with Calvert-Lewin for the main starting berth.
It will be interesting to see if the Toffees can get this one over the line as he’s unlike other players at the club and Frank Lampard would certainly bring the best out of him.
The 26-year-old will also see a move to Goodison Park as a step up in his career and while he will not get Champions League football, the lure of playing in the Premier League is something else altogether.
