Everton manager Frank Lampard to be considered for England job on one condition after France defeat

Frank Lampard has been linked with the England job and an Everton exit after the Three Lions were dumped out of the World Cup against France on 10 December.

Les Bleus ended up winning 2-1 and that led to many wondering whether or not Gareth Southgate would continue at the helm.

According to the Daily Mail [12 December], the FA will consider Lampard as an option if Southgate decides to step down from his position as the England manager.

Everton

Will he accept?

Lampard’s time at Everton has been far from a stroll in the park and he may think that he’s had enough of the club.

The England job is a more lucrative one in terms of stature and he will get to work with one of the best teams in decades.

At Goodison Park, the pressure is going to be relentless as the Toffees look to be fighting yet another relegation battle.

Due to financial constraints, the board are not even backing the Englishman with a massive budget and he may feel that he’s limited in the tools he’s handed to take this club to the next level.

It will be interesting to see what happens in case Southgate does step down as there are a number of managers linked with the post.

Lampard surely will be quizzed about the possibility the next time he fronts the media and his replies could give indications as to where his mind is.

He’s played down links to the job in October, but that was before the World Cup and it’s a lot more different right now for him.
