Frank Lampard now likely to stay put as Everton manager with Gareth Southgate making England decision
Frank Lampard should now be at Everton for the foreseeable future with the English FA seeming to no longer need a replacement.
According to the Telegraph on 19 December, Gareth Southgate has decided to stay on as the Three Lions head coach after the World Cup quarter-final defeat to France.
The England side was praised for their performances throughout the tournament, but many felt that the time had come for Southgate to step down.

However, after speaking with his friends and family as he returned home, he appears to have come to the conclusion that he’s got at least one more major tournament under his belt.
Would he have left, the English FA were already considering replacements with Lampard understood to be those among consideration. [Daily Mail]
It was also understood that he was the most financially viable option with them not keen on paying heavy compensations to clubs.
This would be good news for the Toffees board as they will not be forced into making a managerial change and make decisions based on their own wishes.
That’s not to say that Lampard’s job is assured at Goodison Park as recent results have proven that he’s far from being comfortable on the hot seat.
The Toffees are in 17th place, just one point away from the relegation zone and fixtures against Manchester City and Brighton in the first three weeks after returning aren’t the most ideal of scenarios.
However, if Lampard believes that he’s the right man for the Everton job, he’s got to come out of this challenge and guide the club to safety.
