Two players ruled out for Everton v Wolves, Dominic Calvert-Lewin doubtful

Everton will be without two players for their Premier League clash against Wolves on Boxing Day, Frank Lampard has confirmed in his press conference.

The Toffees boss shared that Dominic Calvert Lewin is going “to be tight” for the game, while winger Andros Townsend has had a setback in his recovery from a serious knee injury.

Defenders Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate should be fit for the game, while Tom Davies and Yerry Mina have recovered from their injuries too.

“Dominic, it’s gonna be tight; he’s going to be training over the next couple of days,” Lampard said.

“We’re trying to push him for match fitness – the injury feels good – which is the best news. The last thing we want to do is go too soon. So that’s the question mark.”

Blow

It’s a blow to have so many players out injured after a long break away, but Lampard seems in a confident mood and the mood is clearly good.

Calvert-Lewin’s injuries are a real problem for the side as we simply can’t rely on him to be fit anymore, but hopefully this is a chance for Neal Maupay to really kick on and show his worth.

Everton

The Frenchman only got one goal in the first half of the season but has found the net in the friendlies during the break, so hopefully he can keep that form going into the game.

A win would be huge for the Toffees with Wolves sitting bottom of the table and Everton just one point above the drop zone, so getting players back fit and available will be a huge boost for the side.

But Lampard must work with what he’s got now and do all he can to bring back those three points from Goodison on Boxing Day.
