Frank Lampard issues transfer update of Wolves-owned Conor Coady future at Everton
Frank Lampard confirms that he would like Conor Coady to stay on at Everton beyond the expiration of his loan deal.
The 29-year-old moved to Goodison Park in the summer on loan from Wolves after falling out with then-manager Bruno Lage.
Since his move, he has become an integral part of Lampard’s side and has been one of the first names on the team sheet for him.
Speaking about his future, the manager said, via BBC Sport Merseyside, “Conor has been brilliant since he’s been here in every possible way. So we would like to make it permanent at some point but that’s not happening right now.”
Hope he stays
There weren’t too many cheers in and around Goodison Park when Coady was brought in from Wolves in the summer on loan.
He was seen as a player who wasn’t getting minutes regularly at his club and Everton were viewed as him taking a step down.
However, Lampard knew what he was getting in the English defender and even playing in a back four, Coady has managed to prove his worth.
Despite being in relegation trouble, Everton have one of the best defences in the league and that’s courtesy of Coady’s partnership with James Tarkowski at the back.
He’s also become an important dressing room presence and has even worn the captain’s armband for the club this season.
Recently, he even hit back at comments from Liverpool ace Jordan Henderson and the Evertonians would’ve certainly loved him for that.
His Goodison Park future surely will be contingent on the club avoiding relegation and Lampard knows that he’s got some job on his hands.
