Everton transfer news as agent talks begin for Anthony Elanga in January

Everton are knocking on the door with enquiries to sign Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga in the January transfer window, according to Simon Phillips.

The reliable journalist has reported that the Toffees are in talks with the agents of the Swedish international, with a proposal for a loan move now possible.

Elanga has seen limited game time under Erik Ten Hag and came off the bench for a matter of seconds in the 1-0 win against Wolves over the weekend.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Phillips shared the latest transfer news coming from Goodison Park as they put their foot on the gas for new arrivals.

“Everton are knocking on the door making enquiries,” he said. “They are in the early stages.

“They are speaking to his agent regarding a loan move, I believe, at the moment. That’s the proposal they want to put together for him.”

Desperate.

Frank Lampard needs action in the transfer window, that is obvious.

Dwight McNeil has not hit the heights expected since arriving, Anthony Gordon has tailed off and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is injured more times than not.

Add in the failure of Neal Maupay and the inconsistencies of Demarai Gray and it can be a really infuriating time to watch the Toffees right now.

Now would be the perfect time to join though with confidence high after the 1-1 draw at Manchester City will have shot confidence throughout the squad, just when they needed it.

Everton and Lampard need to kick on now though, and cannot let that be a one-off result with Brighton up next at Goodison Park in a must-win fixture.

Elanga certainly won’t come through the door before this one on Tuesday 3 January though, but a good performance and result may turn his head.

All eyes are on this one.
