Everton shareholder makes Duncan Ferguson admission as Frank Lampard nears sack
Everton shareholder Mike Parry urges the club to give the job to Duncan Ferguson if they decide to part ways with Frank Lampard.
The Toffees manager is under tremendous pressure after his side suffered a 4-1 defeat against Brighton at Goodison Park on 4 January.
His record is worse than Rafa Benitez’s and the fans also made their voices heard after the performance.
Parry wrote on Twitter, “When Duncan Ferguson left @Everton our fighting spirit seems to have gone with him. We all know how he can inspire players. If there’s to be any imminent changes at Goodison I would urge that Big Dunc be brought back short or long term. He is an all around proven positive.”
Nothing changes
We’ve all read this script before.
A manager leaves and Ferguson is brought in on a temporary basis and there is a sudden bounce but nothing really changes in the grand scheme of things.
The reason why the 51-year-old was never given the job full time in the past was his lack of managerial experience and we’re glad that he’s left the club in order to gain that.
While he hasn’t taken over any side yet, he has been linked with Championship clubs and that’s perhaps ideal for someone with his reputation.
If he manages to overachieve, he knows that a job in the top flight will surely be waiting for him in the future.
Everton fans and the hierarchy love him and it’ll be a shock to everyone if he does not return to Goodison Park one day as the first-team manager.
However, that’s some way in the future and as of now, if the Toffees want to make a change, they need to do it soon or else back Lampard with the funds to bring in his players in January.
It’s understood that Farhad Moshiri is still to make a decision on whether or not to part ways with the former Chelsea captain.
