Richard Keys and Andy Gray blast ‘ridiculous’ Farhad Moshiri for comments after Everton loss v West Ham United

Farhad Moshiri has been labelled “ridiculous” for his comments on Frank Lampard after Everton were beaten 2-0 by West Ham at the London Stadium.

The Toffees lost thanks to two Jarrod Bowen goals in the first half and now find themselves joint-bottom of the Premier League having lost 11 of their last 14 games in all competitions.

After the game Moshiri was asked about Lampard’s future and said, “it’s not my decision” but Richard Keys and Andy Gray have blasted him for his comments, with Gray admitting that Lampard should probably be replaced as manager after his poor run.

“Big calls now to come from Bill Kenwright, who’s chairman still,” Keys said live on beIN Sport (21 January).

“Farhad Moshiri is, they try to tell us, the owner of the football club. Both have spoken after the game, doorstepped as we call it in the business.

“Bill said it’s a bad time for everybody and if changes were going to be made you wouldn’t expect me to say that to you, the reporter. Moshiri came out and said it’s not my decision.

“So whose is it? Is it the real owner, Alisher Usmanov? This is getting seriously worrying.”

“It must be,” Gray replied.

“Listen, 20 games, 15 points. Everton need 25 points from 18 games now, and they’ve only taken 15 from 20.”

“I think one of the problems that Everton have had since David [Moyes] left, maybe since Martinez left, is that they’ve changed too many managers, too often.

“But when you’ve had 38 games, and I look at my club here, and I look at them and I see the state they’re in, can I honestly say that I see what Frank’s trying to do? I see where I think he’s trying to take the team? And I see improvement from when he took over?

“The answer to all those questions would be no. So I think now there must be the most pressure ever, ever, on the board to change managers.

“He [Farhad Moshiri] can’t say ‘its not my decision’ if he’s supposed to own the club. Supposed. He can’t say it’s not my decision.

“It’s ridiculous that he can say that to the public, to the Everton fans.”

Everton Farhad Moshiri

Shocking

Finally, someone who gets it. Andy Gray is an Everton legend and we all know that Richard Keys couldn’t care less about this club.

But it’s absolutely mental the amount of protection that Lampard gets in the English press and the fact that Moshiri can get away with saying the things he has said.

Everton fans deserve so much better than what is happening right now, and the board and owner must be called out for their absolute nonsense immediately to get things back on track.

We need a new manager, we need a new board and we need fresh blood and new players to get this squad within arms reach of having a chance to improve and avoid relegation this season, because we only did it last year because of the fans.

That relationship is completely broken now and it seems like an inevitability that Everton will be relegated this season unless something drastic changes.
