Alan Myers delivers Marcelo Bielsa verdict as Everton on verge of sacking Frank Lampard
Alan Myers believes that former Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa is the sort of character that Everton need to go to the next level.
The Toffees are on the cusp of sacking Frank Lampard and the Argentine’s name has been thrown into the mix to replace him.
An official announcement has not been made by the club just yet but the Daily Mail report that it’s only a matter of time.
Sky Sports’ Myers wrote on Twitter, “The bookies are saying Bielsa favourite to succeed Lampard, my Leeds contact says he hopes not as he will get Everton safe and transform them, and put his team in trouble! I think the club needs a strong character, Bielsa is certainly that.”
Will he accept?
Bielsa is extremely meticulous about the projects he chooses and has turned down some lucrative offers in the past because he didn’t see eye to eye with the decision makers.
He famously left Lazio just two days after he was appointed as he did not get what he was promised during the interview process.
Everton are an awfully run club and nothing is going to change as long as Farhad Moshiri is in charge.
Yes, appointing Bielsa may excite the fans and may even get the Toffees playing a decent brand of football as he showcased with Leeds United.
But, with the sort of backing Everton give their managers, the Argentine will suffer the same fate and he’s smart enough to see this coming from a mile away.
The club needs to sign another striker along with Arnaut Danjuma and it does seem like Chuba Akpom could be that man, but now it remains to be seen who the new manager wants to bring in.
