Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure training alone after dressing room bust-up

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has been marginalized from the first team set-up and has been told to train on his own, according to a report from The Times.

The midfielder and other players were involved in a dressing room clash with Frank Lampard following the loss to Southampton. Doucoure was subsequently excluded from the clash against West Ham on Saturday (21 January).

Doucoure, who is an expensive player, pockets around £120,000-a-week wages at Goodison Park [Evening Standard], and he is now facing an uncertain future at the club.

New hope?

Doucoure has managed only two league starts in the Premier League this season, and a further eight appearances have come from the bench.

The 30-year-old has struggled with injuries as well. The midfielder looked below par this season, and it became very clear that Lampard was not impressed with him.

Doucoure has a contract at the club until the end of the season, but the Toffees have the option to extend it for another year.

He looked impressive under Rafa Benitez last season. The Spaniard gave him more freedom to join the attack and that brought the best out in him.

Under Lampard, he hasn’t played much. Moreover, Lampard has used Alex Iwobi in that role, and it has to be said that he did really well.

Lampard has been sacked by the club after a dismal run of form. The Toffees haven’t won in their last 10 games in all competitions and are 19th in the league table.

Doucoure may get a chance to revive his career if he can impress his potential new boss.
