Amadou Onana skips Everton training to attend wedding

Everton midfielder Amadou Onana was a planned absentee for their training session at Finch Farm on Tuesday [24 January], as he attended a wedding according to Liverpool ECHO journalist Tony Scott.

The big-money midfielder, who joined the Toffees last summer in a £33m deal from LOSC Lille formed a vital part of Frank Lampard’s midfield before his sacking on Monday [23 January].

And with the club in a tumultuous position in the Premier League table, the player has been offered a way out with league high-flyers Arsenal and Newcastle United interested [24 January] in signing him this month.

And to add further fuel to the fire, the 21-year-old Belgian international was absent from training on Tuesday.

However, Liverpool ECHO journalist Scott, took to his Twitter account [24 January], to reveal the real reasons why Onana was absent from training. He tweeted: “Amadou Onana a planned absentee at Finch Farm today. The Belgian was at a wedding.”

Reports suggesting that Arsenal and Newcastle are interested in Onana as well as his apparent absence from Toffees training will certainly be worrying the fans.

They simply cannot catch a break right now, with all the mess that’s surrounding the whole club. Lampard’s gone, there are no plans to replace him, there are no plans to get in any signings with seven days left of the window and owner Farhad Moshiri continues to exert incompetence.

And now there are rumours surrounding Onana’s immediate future at the club, considering he is arguably their most important and best player right now. Just when will it all end?

The club’s plight seems worse than last season, and there’s definitely uncertainty and unlikeliness as to whether they can steer clear of the relegation zone. If Onana goes this month, those worries will certainly be compounded even further.
