Everton table bid for Santos striker Marcos Leonardo, Brazilian club responds
Everton have tabled a late January bid for Santos’ 19-year-old striker Marcos Leonardo, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
However, it’s understood the Brazilian giants have rejected the bid from the Toffees due to there being no need to cash in on the talented striker (Tuttomercatoweb, 28 January).
The Brazilian youth international scored 21 goals in all competitions in the 2021/22 season and is contracted to Santos until 2026.

Get it done
This is a move the Toffees should be looking to get done as soon as possible. Although the initial bid has been rejected, Everton are in desperate need of a new striker, and with the incoming Anthony Gordon transfer fee, there’s a good chance they will have the financial clout to do so.
Sean Dyche is to be the man entrusted with securing Everton’s Premier League survival, but to do so he will need to be backed sufficiently in the transfer market.

The former Burnley boss is known for getting the most out of his players and if he’s given some backing from the board, the Merseyside club could have a good chance of staying in the Premier League.
There are now under three days left in the transfer window – and it looks as if Everton could well be one of the busier clubs as the window edges closer to its conclusion.
Attacking additions seem to be at the top of the agenda for Everton with Tottenham attacker Lucas Moura also reportedly on the club’s radar (Alan Nixon via his Patreon account on Sunday, 29 January).
