£15m bid tabled for Jarrad Branthwaite on deadline day, Everton decide whether to accept

Everton are set to reject a deadline-day approach from PSV for on-loan defender Jarrad Branthwaite, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their website on 31 January that Branthwaite, 20, is currently on loan at PSV but the Dutch giants want to make the deal permanent.

It is understood that PSV have offered around £15million for the versatile centre-back but Everton are likely to decline the offer because he “has shown glimpses of his talent in the Premier League”.

Why on earth are Everton turning this down?

If it’s true that PSV have offered £15million for a fairly average young player then Everton should be biting their arm off for it.

Everton’s Financial Fair Play issues are well documented. It’s led to the club losing a lot of players they probably would have rather wanted to keep in the last year or two.

Richarlison and Anthony Gordon have gone for over £100million and while many fans weren’t too happy with Gordon’s behaviour, he’s still a top young talent who’s had to leave due to FFP.

Why wouldn’t they take £15million for Branthwaite?

He’s out on loan for a reason – he’s not good enough for Everton yet.

We’re in the relegation zone and need a short-term fix so selling him and bringing in a player or two who can strengthen Sean Dyche’s first-team squad surely makes a lot of sense.

We’re getting worried that there’s no one coming in now.

It’s getting closer and closer to 11pm and most of the stories revolve around transfers that won’t be happening rather than ones that are likely to happen.
