Everton duo Nathan Patterson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury updates issued ahead of Chelsea clash

Everton right-back Nathan Patterson will face a late fitness test ahead of the Premier League clash against Chelsea, per injury expert Ben Dinnery.

The Toffees travel to Stamford Bridge to take on the London outfit on Saturday, 18 March.

With Patterson a doubt and Andros Townsend ruled out, there’s a chance that Dominic Calvert-Lewin also misses the game as he’s 75 per cent likely to be unavailable.

Gray to lead the line?

Neal Maupay is clearly not good enough to lead the line and all experiments of getting him to replace the England international have failed.

Ellis Simms is an interesting idea but he’s still very raw and he has the capability of performing the role, but it’s too much onus on his shoulders.

Gray has been a first-team player and knows the ropes, even though he’s not an out-and-out number nine.

He’s got the ability to draw defenders out of position and can also find himself in space as he’s got an engine on him.

He may not be the cleanest of finishers in this Everton side but Sean Dyche will certainly be impressed by what he’s been offering off the ball as well.

Chelsea also have up to seven players that are going to miss this game so the Toffees can fancy going to Stamford Bridge and getting something from it.
