Tottenham Hotspur could sack Antonio Conte before Everton clash on April 3 – Matt Law

Everton could face a Tottenham side without Antonio Conte in charge as the north London club consider sacking him during the international break.

The Italian coach went on a stunning rant after their 3-3 draw with Southampton on Saturday (18 March), blasting the players and the board and criticising the direction of the club.

With his contract currently set to expire in the summer, an exit now seems inevitable but according to Matt Law for The Telegraph (20 March) it’s possible he could be sacked during the international break and replaced temporarily by ex-midfielder Ryan Mason.

“But sources still believe Levy could sack Conte during this international break once he has taken advice and fully weighed up his options,” they wrote (20 March).

“Were Levy to sack Conte, then Ryan Mason would most likely be put in temporary charge until the end of the season in time for Tottenham’s next game against Everton on April 3.”

Good or bad?

It’s hard to know if this is a good or a bad thing for Everton at this point, because Spurs have been having such a rollercoaster of a season so far.

When they’re good under Conte, they’re really good, and we saw that as they beat Manchester City and made it through to the Champions League last 16.

But when they’re bad, which they have been regularly, they’ve been really bad and Everton will fancy that getting them in a bad way at Goodison Park will be a great opportunity for us to claim some more much needed points.

However, without Conte at the helm and Mason coming in as his replacement that’s another situation that could see Everton get points on the board against an inexperienced manager.

But if he comes in and improves the morale and gets them playing well, with the quality they have in their squad it could well be a situation that doesn’t help us, so it’s certainly one to watch out for.
