Everton: Dele Alli goes AWOL at Besiktas, manager doesn't know where he is

Everton loanee Dele Alli has gone AWOL at Besiktas, with manager Senol Gunes admitting they don’t know where he is while speaking to De Marke Sports.

The Toffees midfielder is currently on loan at the Super Lig club but has been told he has no future in Turkey, and has been left out of their match day squad in recent weeks.

Dele hasn’t been called up to the England squad for the current international break and was allowed a few days off, but the Besiktas boss told the media (22 March) that he was supposed to have returned by now but the club haven’t heard from him and don’t know where he is.

“We gave Dele Alli permission for a small break, he hasn’t come back yet,” he said.

“It’s raining, that’s probably why he didn’t come. We’re trying to find out where he is.”

It’s been a torrid few years for Dele Alli at Tottenham, Everton and now Besiktas, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better any time soon.

The move to Turkey was supposed to be a way for him to get away from the spotlight of Premier League football and restart his career elsewhere, after flopping in his six months on Merseyside.

But all that’s happened is that it has been proven now that Dele is nowhere near good enough for the top level anymore and his career at Everton has absolutely no future.

What happens between now and the end of the season at Besiktas isn’t our problem, but once the summer comes back around Sean Dyche and Kevin Thelwell will have a task on their hands getting him out of the door.

His unprofessional behaviour isn’t going to make it easy to find him a new home, but he can’t stick around at Everton after this latest episode.
