Alan Shearer stunned by what Michael Keane did for Everton in 1-1 draw v Totteham Hotspur

Alan Shearer was stunned by Michael Keane’s amazing equaliser as Everton claimed a dramatic 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

The Toffees went down to 10 men after Abdoulaye Doucoure pushed Harry Kane in the face, who then converted a penalty minutes later after Keane fouled Christian Romero in the box.

Spurs themselves were reduced to 10 men after Lucas Moura made a nasty tackle on Keane, before the centre-back lashed a strike into the top corner from 25 yards out in the 90th minute to earn a point and plaudits from the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.

“Wow,” he wrote. “What a goal from Michael Keane,” followed by clapping emojis.

Everton pulled themselves out of the relegation zone with the point, and made it four games unbeaten under Sean Dyche.

Amazing

It was a real rollercoaster of a game for Keane, who was involved in almost every single major moment throughout the 90 minutes.

He cleared an effort off the line in the first half too, but the goal was simply a moment of magic that was more than deserving of the comparisons to Vincent Kompany’s screamer years ago for Manchester City against Leicester to essentially win them the title.

There’s no doubt that the point is absolutely huge in the larger scope of things, but the reaction of the team after going a man down and a goal down was so impressive.

Dyche has made this team incredibly difficult to beat and the fans at Goodison Park have been absolutely tremendous, and the point was fully deserved on the balance of play.

Keane deserves plenty of praise and credit for bouncing back from giving the penalty away to make a big contribution, and that type of character is what is going to keep us in the Premier League.
