Everton ace Alex Iwobi hailed for first half performance v Crystal Palace in Premier League

Lee Hendrie was blown away by the striker of Alex Iwobi in the first half of the Everton v Crystal Palace clash that nearly broke the deadlock.

The Toffees travelled to Selhurst Park on Saturday, 22 April, to take on the high-flying Eagles side who have enjoyed a tremendous run of form under Roy Hodgson.

With the game on a knife’s edge, Iwobi took a brilliant shot but it was well saved by Sam Johnstone who parried the ball to safety.

Everton

Speaking on the Premier League world feed, Hendrie, a Sky Sports pundit, said [22/04, 15:36], “Brilliant strike from Iwobi. Hard and low. Struck it well with good power. Deserved a goal.”

Keeping it tight

Everton know that they cannot be open and expansive against Palace as that will work to their own detriment, given how good the Palace attackers are.

They’re pacey, technical, and more importantly, on the same page and that cannot be said about the Toffees front men.

Their entire game is based on soaking up the pressure and trying to hit the opponents on the break and thus far, that approach is working.

Everton

There have been a few chances for the hosts, but it’s not like Jordan Pickford has bailed out Everton in the first half.

It’s good to see Iwobi fancying his luck in front of goal and with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the line, this side has a focal point as well.

Given the recent Super Computer predictions, it’s important for the Toffees to get something from this game as it’s not looking too good in terms of avoiding relegation.
