Everton are interested in signing Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer, according to Fanatik.
The Colombian striker is set to leave the Ibrox club after five years, having scored 124 goals in 268 appearances, after losing his place in the side under Michael Beale.
And according to Fanatik (18 May) the Toffees are among the clubs lining up to sign him on a free, although it’s Turkish giants Fenerbahce who currently lead the race.
Morelos was a big part of the Rangers team who won the Scottish Premiership title a couple of years ago, and was key to them reaching the Europa League final and winning the Scottish Cup last season.
This season he has struggled massively however with fitness and attitude problems, with many people believing that he had already checked out at Ibrox.
A new environment and a fresh challenge could reset his mentality to get him back firing on all cylinders, and if that was the case then Everton could potentially be signing a huge upgrade on Neal Maupay and Ellis Simms.
If the team drop into the Championship that could put him off, but it could also be a chance to bring him in as the first-choice striker to get him firing and get us back to the Premier League with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future up in the air too.
It won’t be easy to compete with Fenerbahce who will be playing European football, but it would be shrewd business from the club for once and a sensible transfer to improve the squad.
