Everton defender Ben Godfrey tries to get under Manchester City star Erling Haaland’s skin ahead of Champions League final

Everton defender Be Godfrey has thrown some light on his confrontation with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland this season.

In an interview with a journalist from Gianluca Di Marzio‘s team, Godfrey referred to him as “Garbage that talks” as gives Inter Milan tips on how to get under his skin.

Godfrey admits that he was nervous in the game, but then rejoiced in his face after he managed to find the back of the net.

He said, “Needless to say that Erling Haaland is a good player. He was nervous, you could tell by his reactions. I just had to do my job.”

Pretty bizarre

It’s strange that Godfrey is the one being approached on how to keep the Norwegian striker at bay.

Haaland has gone from strength to strength at Manchester City and has made them genuine treble contenders for the first time ever.

He did have some tricky moments against Everton but did end up finding the back of the net but did not beat the Toffees.

The game which was played on New Year’s Eve may fondly be remembered by Frank Lampard as one of his best games in management.

To take this Everton team to the Etihad and come away with a point is special but it’s a shame that it was a fluke and not the sign of things to come.

Right now their focus will be on Bournemouth and hopefully, the fact that six first-team players could miss the game, gives the Toffees a much-needed boost pre kick-off.
