Tim Sherwood fumes as Everton fan footage emerges post Bournemouth win

Tim Sherwood was not happy with the fact that a club like Everton needed a final-day win over Bournemouth to avoid relegation.

Abdoulaye Doucoure scored a brilliant second-half goal on 28 May at Goodison Park that ensured the Toffees win 1-0 and finished in 17th place.

However, Sherwood believes that the hosts are among the biggest sides in the Premier League and this was a real fall from grace for them.

He said on Premier League Productions’ post-match show reacting to the footage of fans celebrating [28/05, 21:24], “It’s almost embarrassing for a club like Everton to see this [celebrating on the final day]. We want to see them in the Premier League. One of the biggest clubs in the tournament’s history. Sean Dyche is the man to get them back on track.”

Spot on

Farhad Moshiri and the incompetent Everton board has led fans to believe that it’s fine to fight relegation every season and celebrate on the final day.

This is a side that not too long ago was genuinely on the cusp of being the best of the rest and with investment that was seen under the Carlo Ancelotti era, may even have achieved their goal.

However, Moshiri then became the majority shareholder, appointed the wrong people who made the wrong decisions that nearly got the club relegated.

Fans are overjoyed but annoyed at the same time as to how this hierarchy nearly drove the club into relegation and financial turmoil post it.

Two first-team players were set to spearhead the club’s exodus had they been relegated and for a significant amount of time on Sunday, it did seem like a possibility.

However, credit to Sean Dyche, the players and the fans for managing another great escape and keeping the Toffees in the division.
