Everton impressed with 18-y/o sensation Yankuba Minteh

Everton have been watching Odense’s Gambian winger Yankuba Minteh along with a host of European clubs, according to 90min.

However, it’s believed Newcastle United have now agreed a deal worth around £6million with the Danish club. The 18-year-old has six goals and seven assists during the 2022/23 season (90min, 2 June).

It’s understood the Toffees along with Brighton, Club Brugge, Ajax, Feyenoord and Marseille are the teams who have been impressed with the winger.

Right market

Although the Toffees are almost certain to miss out, this is the type of move they need to be pursuing. The Gambian could develop during his time at Goodison Park – and earn Everton a significant sum in the future.

Newcastle are going to be hard to compete with this summer. The Magpies have the financial muscle in terms of wages in transfer fees.

Evertonians should be looking at the North East side as a barometer during the off-season.

It’s baby steps for the board and Sean Dyche. With new investment on the cards, a mid-table finish has to be the goal next season. The club has to head into the Bramley-Moore Stadium on a solid financial footing.

Farhad Moshiri needs to gradually phase himself out of proceedings. He’s taken the club as far as he can, and although he has grand visions for the future, his radical decision-making has caused more wrong than good.

It’s time for a new plan – and that has to come from the top down.
