Alan Myers drops bombshell as Everton lead race to sign ex Manchester United full-back Ashley Young
Alan Myers has dropped an update on the Everton pursuit of former Manchester United and Watford full-back Ashley Young.
The Sky Sports journalist claims that the 37-year-old is a man in demand has already received offers from clubs in the Premier League club and Championship.
It’s understood that he’s snubbed all those offers and Everton currently lead the race to secure the services of the former England international.
Myers wrote on Twitter, “Young has turned down a number of other offers from PL and Championship clubs, Everton are favourites to sign the former Man Utd man.”
Interesting
It’s interesting to see Young rejecting other Premier League sides and not Everton and this could be good news for the Toffees.
They do not have the adequate funds to splurge this summer and will have to be wise with the deals they make with regards to incomings as well as outgoings.
Young is an experienced player in the Premier League who’s capable of playing a plethora of roles and will be an important utility signing.

He can play at full-back, on the wings and even in central midfield so one can understand the reasons for wanting to sign him.
He’s also available on a free transfer so there will be very low risk involved in this deal and the fact that he’s 37 should not make a huge difference.
It remains to be seen if Everton do go ahead with this as they’re already in talks so it certainly seems like it’s serious business.
They do need to kick start their transfer activity sooner rather than later as most of the sides in the top flight have already done that.
In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
