Everton news: Alan Myers issues update on quest to sign ex Manchester United and Aston Villa ace Ashley Young
Alan Myers has shared a major update on former Manchester United and Aston Villa player Ashley Young amid Everton links.
The Sky Sports journalist claims that the Toffees have held talks to sign the one-time Premier League winner and discussions are ongoing.
He is available for a move this summer as his deal at Villa Park ran out in June which means he’s now a free agent.
Myers wrote on Twitter, “Everton have held talks about the possibility of bringing former Aston Villa defender Ashley Young to the club, the 37 year old is available on a free transfer, nothing decided yet, talks are continuing.”
Decent move
The Toffees are in dire need of new signings this summer and do not have the funds to splurge on the best of players.
Sean Dyche knew the situation before he signed for the club but would want some sort of backing in the transfer market.
In Young, he will get a talented player who’s capable of playing at left-back, right-back, central midfield as well as on the wings.

He’s proven that despite being on the wrong side of 30, he can still put in a shift and managed to do that at Inter Milan and Aston Villa as well.
The 37-year-old would not be the worst signing in the world on a one-year contract and will be massive for their bench strength.
He would also not mind another season in the Premier League and it would be a better payday compared to that of a Championship side.
In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
