Fabrizio Romano shares update on Everton target and Leeds United ace Rodrigo

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Leeds United attacker Rodrigo that Everton fans or Sean Dyche will certainly not be major fans of.

The Sky Sports journalist claimed on Wednesday, 12 July, that the Spaniard will not be moving to Goodison Park, but will seal a move to the Middle East.

Qatari side Al Rayyan have won the race to secure the services of the Whites’ former record signing.

Romano wrote on Twitter, “Rodrigo Moreno Machado leaves Leeds United and joins Qatari side Al Rayyan, done deal and here we go.

“Medical ongoing for Rodrigo, waiting to complete documents and get the deal signed later today.”

This will come as a massive blow to Dyche who desperately needs a striker this summer and had the 32-year-old on his radar.

Despite his age, he managed to shine for Leeds last season and ended up with double figures for goals – proving he can perform at a lower-half Premier League side.

Sharing a transfer update, via Twitter, Alan Myers wrote at the start of July, “I think we may see movement by Monday but can’t guarantee it. My guess would be the first one will be Rodrigo but let’s see.”

It was assumed that Rodrigo will be moving to Goodison Park on loan and the Sky Sports journalist even believed he would be the first one through the door.

However, instead of another year in the best league in the world, he’s chosen to pick the money and has moved to Qatar.

Dyche will be gutted as he would’ve been an ideal signing for him and now he’ll have to look elsewhere.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
