Everton have not bid for Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga in fresh transfer twist
Everton have not tabled a bid for Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga, but they are interested in a deal according to the Liverpool Echo.
BBC Sport reported on Thursday (13 July) that the Toffees had made an offer between £15m-20m for the Sweden international, but have since altered their article to remove any mention of the bid.
And according to the ECHO journalist Christopher Beesley, that’s because no bid has been made yet although there is interest in the 21-year-old.
“I understand reports that Everton have offered between £15m to £20m for Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga are not accurate and although the player has been on the club’s radar for some time, he remains just one of several potential targets at this stage,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
Typical
It did seem like a big opening bid for a player who is likely to go for less than that amount, but you can’t blame anyone for believing it when the BBC are reporting it.
However when the Echo speak they’re usually on the money when it comes to the goings on at Goodison Park, and the likelihood is now that we’re yet to table a formal offer.

Sky Sports and Fabrizio Romano have reported that talks have been held between the clubs about a potential deal, and Everton should feel confident that they can get a deal done considering they were close to one in January.
But when that fell through the club had to go without. We know the player is interested in a move here because of that, and with our Premier League status still in tact we’re still somewhat attractive.
There’s a long way to go in any prospective deal and in the transfer window, but Everton are most certainly active.
