Everton transfer news as Brondby goalkeeper Mads Hermansen wanted amid £5m exit news

Everton have been tracking Brøndby goalkeeper Mads Hermansen as he looks set to leave the Danish club in a £5million move this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The Toffees were linked with the Danish Under-21 goalkeeping sensation during the January window, according to a report from Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet (13 January, page 7) which also revealed that the 22-year-old was also attracting interest from clubs around Europe.

And according to the Daily Mail (13 July), Championship outfit Leicester City have opened talks for the Danish goalkeeping hotshot with Brøndby willing to let the player go for the appropriate fee of around £5m.

As well as Everton, Hermansen has also been tracked by Bournemouth and Fulham.

Make move?

It already looks as though Everton have got their goalkeeper situation sorted this summer, with Pickford set to continue on in the Toffees goal, while a new deal has already been agreed with Portuguese youngster Joao Virginia.

The 23-year-old was sent out on loan last season to Dutch club SC Cambuur and even admitted recently that he could look for another loan move this summer, with his game-time potentially limited.

And that may well force Everton to battle Leicester City for a move for Hermansen who has emerged as one of the hottest young prospects in Denmark, following his impressive performances for Brøndby last season.

Despite his relative inexperience, he is highly regarded for both club and country, having been picked for the Danish squad in their recent Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The Toffees will desperately need an understudy to the incredibly durable and reliable Pickford next season, and whether that is Virginia or a new signing like Hermansen, the club must ensure they have a backup in place, especially after Asmir Begovic’s departure this summer.
