Everton transfer news as wage update emerges on Leeds United striker Rodrigo
Everton were reportedly contacted by the representatives of Leeds United striker Rodrigo to match Al Rayyan’s offer in terms of wages.
According to Football Transfers [13 July], the Qatari side offered the 32-year-old £200,000 per week in wages to play for them.
The Toffees were not willing to match that and they will now not be signing the Spain international.

Not worth it
Rodrigo may have proved that he can be a clinical goal scorer for Leeds, but he’s 32 and has not got long left at the top.
For him to match the demands of Sean Dyche and play every game next season, may be too much to ask for.
He also will not be someone who’s signed for the future and will be a short-term fix with the club having to look at a different option in a year or two.

All factors point towards this being a deal too expensive to pursue and it’s good that the Toffees backed out from it.
It remains to be seen who the striker they sign is as currently the focus is on Manchester United’s Anthony Elanga and a bid’s already gone in for him.
A striker is more important than Elanga, however, so hopefully, they’ve set aside a decent amount of funds for him as well.
In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
