Alan Myers issues Everton transfer update on Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto after El Bilal Toure news

Everton being in advanced talks to sign El Bilal Toure does not mean that they’re not keen on signing Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto, claims Alan Myers.

The Sky Sports journalist claimed that the Toffees and Atalanta were battling to sign the Almeria striker, but that pursuit is separate from the Gnonto one.

Despite signing Arnaut Danjuma and pursuing the 21-year-old striker, the Italy international still remains on the club’s wishlist this summer.

Myers responded when asked if Bilal Toure’s signing would end Gnonto’s pursuit and he responded on Twitter, “Not necessarily.”

Good news

Gnonto showed glimpses of his brilliance last season and it was baffling that Leeds did not use him more regularly.

There’s no surprise that due to decisions like that one, they ended up getting relegated from the Premier League.

Their loss can be Leeds’ gain with the teenager being able to play as a left winger as well as a striker and was occasionally seen on the right flank as well.

Everton

The Toffees need to redefine their attack and if they have Danjuma, Toure and Gnonto next season, Sean Dyche and the fans will be licking their lips.

Things do not seem to be as advanced with Gnonto as they are with Toure so the club needs to wait and see how open Leeds are to do a deal and whether the attacker is forcing a move.

The Whites will try to get the most money possible from his sale but they’re aware that due to relegation, they do not hold a strong hand.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
