Transfer shortlist emerges as Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin wanted by Roma

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on Roma’s transfer shortlist which does include West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca as well, per Corriere dello Sport.

The Italian media outlet claim [26 July] that Jose Mourinho prefers Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, the third name on the shortlist, but does not mind the two options either.

The former UEFA Conference League winners are chasing a return to the Champions League next season and want to sign a quality striker.

Cash in

If Roma are ready to part ways with a decent amount of funds, then nobody at Everton is likely to come in Calvert-Lewin’s way.

The England international has been injury prone and inconsistent and if there is a market for him, it’s time that the club strikes when the iron is hot.

His valuation is unlikely to be higher than what it is currently and if Mourinho believes he can get a tune out of the striker, then that’s on him.

Everton

What Everton will care about is getting as much money as possible from a player who’s barely fit and a clinical option in the final third.

The Toffees are already keen on signing a striker with Almeria’s El Bilal Toure understood to be their priority.

However, by the looks of it, they are going to miss out on him so it remains to be seen who the next option is.

In other Everton news, an exit-linked Toffees player has recently been spotted in talks with a senior Goodison Park figure ahead of the new season.
