Everton transfer news as Southampton open to Kamaldeen Sulemana loan, £25m buy option talks held

Everton are reigniting their interest in Kamaldeen Sulemana with Southampton open to selling him on loan this summer with a potential buy option, according to Sports World Ghana.

According to the report (8 August), a buy option is being negotiated as Southampton would like their investment in him made back and more with the potential option expected to be set at around £25m.

The Blues were chasing a deal to land the 21-year-old from Ligue 1 side Rennes in January, but he ended up signing for the Saints for £22million instead.

However, with Demarai Gray set to leave Goodison Park this summer, Everton want to reignite their interest in the Ghanaian speedster.

Incredible Gray replacement

With Southampton now plying their trade in the Championship this season, after relegation, Sulemana is expected to be one of their key departures opening the door for Everton to make their long-awaited move.

It all seemed as if the Toffees were going to get their attacking target in the January window, but the former Rennes man chose Southampton instead which turned out to be the wrong decision after their relegation.

Hailed as “incredible” by Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, Sulemana possesses all the attacking hallmarks to thrive under Sean Dyche next season and this is a move Everton should be exploring, even if it is on loan with the Toffees desperate for more attacking reinforcements after acquiring Arnaut Danjuma on a temporary deal.

Sulemana ranks among the top 1% of attacking midfielders and wingers for progressive carries and the top 20% for total shots per 90, as per FBref, which highlights his prowess in darting into the danger areas for which Everton desperately require if they are to improve this season.

Sulemana could yet forge exciting attacking partnerships with the likes of Danjuma, Alex Iwobi and even their impending new signing from Sporting, Youssef Chermiti, deals which points to an exciting change of approach in terms of recruitment from Dyche and the Everton board.

Get this one done.
